Arcius, a joint venture between BP and ADNOC focused on developing gas assets in Egypt and the wider Eastern Mediterranean, has announced a final investment decision to develop the Harmattan gas field offshore Egypt.
The company, which is set to invest an estimated $500m in the project, said that Harmattan would help increase natural gas production to meet domestic market needs.
Arcius acquired the El Burg offshore concession area, which houses the Harmattan field, in February 2026. As part of the execution phase, the EPCI contract for the project was awarded to Egypt-based ENPPI, with Petroleum Marine Services and Petrojet participating as subcontractors.
“The FID to develop the Harmattan field marks an important milestone in advancing one of our first projects in Egypt toward production. [This] reflects our confidence in the potential of Egypt’s energy sector and […] reinforces Egypt’s position as a regional energy hub in the Eastern Mediterranean,” said Naser Al Yafei, CEO of Arcius.
