Milestone delivery for Dubai shipyard

news-details

Drydocks World Dubai, the region’s biggest shipyard, has finished construction of the fifth wellhead platform for TechnipFMC and end client Dubai Petroleum. The topside processing module weighs in at 900 tons, and is designed for unmanned offshore operations, with a life span of 25 years. It contains advanced piping and control systems, which were entirely fabricated, integrated and pre-commissioned by Drydocks World in Dubai.

The 800 tons jacket structure is designed to support the topside offshore in Dubai at a sea depth of 40m. The scope of work also included pile fabrication, oil and water injection systems and the fabrication of gas riser and subsea spools for connecting the platform to Dubai Petroleum’s existing offshore subsea network. This unmanned platform will be part of the UAE offshore Aqam field development and has the ability to handle oil, gas lift and water injection.

Commenting on the completion of the project, Capt. Rado Antolovic, Chief Executive and Managing Director of DP World’s Maritime Services Division, said: “Everyone at Drydocks World is proud of the infrastructure that has been constructed in our Dubai yard for the UAE regional oil and gas industry. TechnipFMC and Dubai Petroleum are valued clients, and we are committed to delivering excellent performance to serve the UAE and the global energy industry.”

The five wellhead platforms that have now been built by Drydocks World Dubai demonstrate the yard’s capabilities in the offshore construction market. Antolovic adds, “The repeat orders show that our services are resonating well with customers. The yard is positively progressing towards our ambitious growth strategy, with innovation, quality, and safety inherent in our system. We look forward to working with TechnipFMC and Dubai Petroleum again and are grateful for their continued faith in our services.”
